AdAge: “Some publishers concede, however, they could help themselves more too. ‘Google has designed an algorithm,’ one said. ‘They don’t owe us that we show up a particular way. They do publish a whole lot about how to make your site show up as much as possible. If people haven’t taken action on it, that’s their own damn fault.’”
SEL: “The irony in all this, of course, is that Google’s so-called Vince update earlier this year supposedly promoted big brands that have more trust and authority than their smaller counterparts – something that should clearly benefit the complaining members of the Publishers Advisory Council.”
Rubel: “A neutral Google is a good Google. They should continue to deliver an algorithm that rewards the highest quality sources that have earned a following, interest and links from other sources. If the media companies don’t want Google to favor bloggers, why not just stop linking to them or use no follow tag? That may over time, erode their Google Juice. However, I suspect most realize it’s too late to put the genie back in the bottle.“

FB: “Since we launched Facebook’s home page design, we’ve received thousands of e-mails, Wall posts and comments from you along with direct feedback from all of our friends and family. If you’ve already given us feedback, thank you. Hearing what you have to say, whether criticism or praise, helps us build a product that serves you better.”
TC: “These changes (especially the new Highlights) are clearly at least partially in response to very vocal base of users who hate the redesign, but Facebook isn’t going to be reverting back to the old News Feed any time soon. And really, it shouldn’t. As Robert Scoble pointed out, customer requests can easily lead the businesses they’re complaining to astray.”
pC: “In what has become somewhat of a tradition with Facebook redesigns, users had complained loudly about the changes. More than 1.2 million voted ‘No’ on a Facebook application asking them whether they liked the changes. Only 80,000 voted ‘yes.’ While Cox gave in this time around, the company didn’t budge when users complained about its last redesign, which included adding tabs to profile pages.”
