http://Home.Live.com finally evolves to a social network, adding services like photos and people; http://is.gd/7ibd
RWW: “Windows Live Photos is one of the most interesting new applications … The new Live Profile aggregates and displays your activity on Windows Live and third-party services. … Windows Live People is the central address book for all Windows Live services. … Overall, these new services represent a major upgrade to the online part of the Windows Live suite. Microsoft is clearly trying to challenge both Yahoo and Google with its new photo application, while the new profiles and groups tie all the Live services together into a very sophisticated social network. … Judging from what we have seen so far, Microsoft has definitely succeeded in creating a compelling set of applications that, thanks to its tight integration with Microsoft’s desktop applications, will surely drive a lot of new users to Windows Live.”
TC: “Users are automatically connected with any friends they have on Windows Live Messenger, which is by far the most popular instant messaging service worldwide (Comscore: Microsoft Messenger has 268 million worldwide users, compared to 116 million for Yahoo and 6 million for Google Talk). … The hope, of course, is to get people to hang out a lot more at Live.com. At least those people who use Messenger, since they already have their contacts established. Like Yahoo, Microsoft is going with its strengths, which in their case is instant messaging.”
pC: “Pretty much everything except MySpace and Facebook is integrated into the new service, including Flickr, LinkedIn, Pandora, Photobucket, Twitter, WordPress and Yelp.”
